Abstract

This paper examines the fundamental social institution of marriage and its significance in Islamic law, emphasizing the sanctity of marriage and family and the pursuit of equal rights for women. The study aims to explore various aspects of marriage rights for women in Islam, including the formation of marriage, age requirements, the right to choose a spouse, and entitlements to dower and maintenance. With a focus on contributing to the empowerment of women, particularly in Muslim societies like Pakistan, the paper addresses contemporary issues such as age requirements, consent from guardians, spousal consent, and the principle of equality. Drawing upon primary sources, religious texts, and scholarly interpretations, the research provides a rigorous investigation into the historical evolution and practices of marriage contracts in Islam, offering insights into the significance of marriage within these religious traditions.
